Lots of misinformation, the cable is mostly insulation. Measurements inside. First off, this is a perfectly acceptable extension cord for most vehicle cigarette lighters that run on 10 to 15 amp circuits. However, the product lists the rating at 30 amps and this is incorrect in my opinion. I bought this to use as a replacement cord for light usage on an inverter so I knew I would be cutting it open. I was disappointed in what I found. The interior wires are only 18AWG inside a massive diameter of insulation. You would most likely blow your vehicle’s fuse before you pulled 30 amps but if you don’t have that protection and planned on pulling 30 amps, you are looking at some big potential problems. The seller has specifically answered a customer’s question about the interior wire gauge and they stated they are 12 guage. This is not correct. This stranded copper conductor measures at .041 (18AWG) and 12AWG would measure at .081. Purchased this product as an extension to fill the tires … Purchased this product as an extension to fill the tires on my trailer. Used it with a Jaco tire inflator. First impression the Jaco pump was not quickly inflating the tires. I started to think it was the pump.After about 5 minutes the pump shut off and the Male end plugged into the car had melted.The pump when directly plugged into the car filled the tires up in less than 4 minutes.and now my car smells for days….So much for “Heavy Duty”
Well made, heavy duty, solves the problem of badly placed 12v outlets. This cord solved an annoying problem for us. Our van has two locations equipped with 12v power. One is in the very front and one in the very back. When we travel we use portable DVD players for the kids that require 12v power. Because of the design of the DVD players and the power outlets the only one that was usable was the one in the front. This left us with a choice, DVD players or charging phones. We only use the DVD players on long trips, unfortunately those are the trips we need GPS on our phones.This cord was the solution we needed. It’s long, well made, and heavy duty. It’s no frills, it does exactly what it claims to do. And the price is right. We used it last week on a 10 hour (each way) trip. And again this week on a quick 3 day trip. It stays plugged in well in our outlets. We’ve had trouble with some other 12v plugs and I was concerned that I would have to constantly stop and plug this back in, but we’ve had zero problems.We plugged it into the…
