12Volt DC 12ft extension cable for cigarette/cigar lighter plug 15Amp Nice, fused (15 AMP) power extension cable. I bought them to see if they will work with my ham radio and scanner in the car. First I’ll explain some simple electrical math so you understand the current rating of this DC extension cable. It did not list the current rating, however that’s easy enough to figure out. It has a 15 amp fuse and the “auto” voltage standard is 13.8 volts DC. So 15X13.8=207 watts. So safe to say 200 watts limitation of this cable extension that’s 14.492 amps…
Good, but too long socket plug The quality is very good, but it’s another one that’s made for the long cigarette lighter plugs. In my shorter ones (both my cars have the short one) it just pops out with the slightest touch or bump in the road. So, almost useless.
Nice thick insulation, good value Bought this to connect my little DC ceiling fan to a marine battery, which I have equipped with a DC receptacle. Plug fits fine into this receptacle, as well as the AC to DC adaptor receptacle I use at home, no problems with it popping out. Quality construction, nice heavy duty insulation. Even thicker than your average household lamp cord. The red LED on the plug is pretty bright. Hope it does not bleed too much power from my battery.
