Cheap crap You get what you pay for. The first time I fired it up, it SMOKED and filled my apartment with the smell of burning plastic. I opened up all the windows, scooped up my cat and we sat in the bathroom for thirty minutes waiting for it to air out. After it had smoked me out, I am still hungry and (unintelligently) decide that if it smokes me out again I’ll order out. Well, it didn’t smoke that time so I started cooking. Problem is, once it had gotten up to temperature, the damn thing turned off…

Is poop. Worked well for about a week then would turn off when it reaches temperature. Meaning as soon as the coil reaches the correct temperature, it switches off and then instead of switching back on when it cools too much, it will stay off. Fine for boiling water but not fine for anything involving protracted fixed temperatures.

meh….HOT FAST…but shuts off First, let’s recognize that it was only $12. You get what you pay for. It heats up incredibly fast and I am very impressed with that. But when it reaches its set “temperature”, it shuts off completely and it doesn’t seem to get around to starting up again unless you turn the dial back up. So, if you are boiling water for pasta, the pasta begins to over boil, you turn down temp…. it shuts off and stays off. Like off off. And you have to turn it back UP again to turn it back on.
