Perfect for long trip. I used the schumacher beverage heater to heat up water on long trip for making tea. The water boil in 20 minutes. The base of the heater fits well in the cup holder and the cord is lengthy enough to reach the 12V plug of a Honda Odyssey, which is located near the floor. I never used the bracket, coffee filter, nor the cup. The lid has an open for steam to escape. Be careful if holding on the handle because the lid open faces downward. So, don’t fill the water too high, or else can spill when the car hit a bump. If the lid serve as a sprout, then it’s prefect.I owned this beverage heater for over two years and it still work great. However, I used less than 20 times, and never used continuously at time. No plan of using it directly to heat up soup or make coffee.

Wish I’d known about the cancer warning on the package I have yet to use this product so this review does not concern its performance. My comment regards a warning clearly printed on the packaging that “Puruant to California Proposition 65, this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.” If I need to wash my hands just after handling the heater, then should I really be drinking anything heated in it? Had I known about the warning on this product prior to purchase I might have thought twice about it… Customers should be made aware.
